It's Christmas holidays, but I thought I'd get some work done with the deadline drawing near.

I have Photoshop on my home computer so I thought I'd do some work on the CD cover.

11th Editing

We added effects to our video today.

And we gave each other Christmas presents!

Next week we need to put more watercolor effect in, and show other people our video for evaluation.

13th December editing

Today we finished editing the clips together. The only thing left to do now is to put video effects on and tidy up any loose ends we have.

Really it's just going over it to make sure it's Ok now. This is good because it means we can now focus more on our website and CD covers, which we haven't done much work on yet.

9th Editing

We need to do some more work on the ending, plus we have 2 gaps with nothing in yet.

We are very tired.

It's 2 weeks until Christmas (On Saturday).

8th Editing

We forgot to catch the picture, now I am too sleepy to make any comment, write it 2MR

CD picture edit

This is what the picture looked like before editing....

...And here's what it looks like afterwards! We changed the river to make it look more like blood, and we changed the sky to make it orange. We also removed the person walking over the bridge.

This is just our first edit for our CD cover. We have lots more to do still.

7th editing

We uploaded the footage filmed on the 27th to start off wit. Then we put together more of the performance. Lip synching went very well!

Editing ran pretty smoothly today with no real problems. Hopefully we can keep this up in the future.

The actually filming on 27th NOV

Quincy was late, so we filmed Femi sing the song on the snow while waiting for her.

 

We decided to film Femi kills Quincy scene forst, the difficult part at the first is how to fatch the light switch. I asked Ron (who s control the red light) to turn the red light on at soon as Femi switches the light of the bedroom. It was difficult to make them catch the exact time, so I decided to let the red light on before Femi has come in.

The second difficulty is how to make Femi push Katherine falling down to the floor and not hurt her. Luckily we found an extra matress to put beside the bed. Instead of falling on the floor, it was much more comfortable to lie on the bed:>

The most difficult thing is filming the long take: I thought it is going to be Katherine breaks the photo and walks to the house, the camera will focus on her hand until she is killing Quincy on her bed, who is sleeping. The problem is I and Femi will push the camera on the dolly while Katherine is walking outside, others will on the second floor inside the house, how could we two groups catch the time together. I told staffs inside that we will phone them when we reach the front door, so one girl will keep the door open and  one boy will open the red light, Quincy will lie on the bed, then Katherine could walk upstairs to kill her. However, I forget to phone them.....no one open the door and Katherine turns around to the caerma, we have to film again. It was my fault. We filmed it again.

This is supposed to be our last filming activity, as least for actors, they are quite happy with the last shoting.  We may need to do some reshot, having not told actors, they will be mad±±

6th Editing, nightmare lol

Yesterday's editing is horrible, a total nightmare.

The first thing is Olivia caught a great cold, she is ill the whole morning, but she has to come to college even she did not want to. :[

The second thing is Cybil forgot to save the whole editing stuff and the whole imovie just collpse down, nothing left. She went to the toilet for 5 minutes......:[

However, we learnt a lot.

The first we learned is save every 5 minuts after editing anything!!!

The second is Michael helped us realise our editing makes the story telling too slow and meanless, especially for the first coffee shop  sequence, we need to condense the narrative and add more performance part at the end intead of boring acting. We have filmmed quite good guitar and drum playings in the theatre, we could use them more to make the video more professional. :>

Michael also suggest we edit the performance first then add the marrative in, but we first film acting, and edted the acting quite fit the lyrics, we discussed which way is better and deside to delete the boring acting and add some performance instead. However, we have lost that edting, we have to do it again.

To make our complex narrative work, we need more meaningful acting, clear editing and better lip thinking.

18th November Filming

Unfortunately, things took a lot longer to set up than we had hoped.

None of us were very good with putting together a drum kit, but when we all pitched in we managed to get it together. Then we had to set up the lighting which we were also unfamiliar with. Also Femi was late to recording through no fault of his own.

In the end we didn't get to start filming till about 4:45, over half an hour later than we wanted. In the end we only got our performance scenes shot, and none of our narratives. However we got a lot more shots than we had planned with this, and the session proved very productive.

We have changed a lot of our initial ideas from our planning, we are no longer using the beach location seen in our ideas board, and we only have the one picture now instead of the 2 we had in our storyboard.

Filming props for 18th November

These are the props we will be using for filming our video today. We have a knife, blood and a picture of our characters.

4th Editing

 This time we add more stuff on our video after we solved some problems:

1. We do not know how to put clip in without moving other clips. Michael taught us: cut them first, and then click on Advance, and click on paste at the playhead. It worked!

2. There is no way for us to lock the clips where they have already been because every time we delete or move some clips out, others will move backwards, we have moved others back to their position 3 times. The best way to do that may be is filming all and then do the editing.

3. The clips we filmed last time on the river side is not very useful because it is out of story board, next time filming, we need to be careful about what we need for the video.

Evaluation of 13th filming

---We learned a new way to direct - directors gives suggestion while actors and actress are actually acting or singing. When we were filming Femi singing the song, we told him to be free and passionate, but he dont actually know how to interpret the lyrics. He is busy remembering it instead, so while Kenny is filming, Cybil could concentrate on interpreting the lyrics and shout the decision out to Femi, when he hear it, he will do what we asked, even it did not match the song, we could edit it or fast it.  Almodovar has used this technique while he was directing Volvar, Cybil knew it from the extra of the <volvar>, Penélope Cruz is busing saying out her line at the same time absorbing directions while showing out right face expression, that is great.

---The other way for actors to get into the mood is let them rehearsal, once we were filming the lyrics about"make me wanna die" . We basically told Femi to act it with  painful face, but when hence him singing it three times, he actually kneed on the grass, which is perfect, we move the camera from low angle to high angle, perfectly fit the need to make him looks vulnerable. The improvisition is reliable and creative.

---How to distrabute everyone's job is the other thing we need to learn. This time, we tried to make everyone have jobs to do but not wasting it on waiting, we organised to film the scene involved Femi first, and then let him try to remember the lyrics. Secondly, we let Penny has a job, taking pictures while we are filming, so we could use them on the blog. Kenny is in Charge of camera and Cybile is focus on directing. We worked very well.

Second Editing

Here is a screen grab from our second day of editing.
We have put together all of the footage we already have, and it's given us a good idea of what we still need to film this Saturday and in the theatre.
We particularly like the editing of the scene where Quincy refuses to go out with Cathy.
we love his face, it is so nice!!!

First Edit

Today, we have our first edit for the run to you,
 it is very exciting and funny.
We tried many order to make sense according to the sotrybroad
Sometimes I was too sticked to the plan but igore the fact that we do not need to do the absolutely same with original plan but to make the music video interesting.
However, we also found the time for shooting and editing is difficult to match,but we need to consider the lyrics, so we slow down some shots to make it last longer.
